Research Governance

Structured oversight, rigorous standards.

Research at SRK is governed through a two-tier University Research Committee and a UGC-aligned Research Advisory Committee, ensuring quality, integrity and momentum across the research lifecycle.

University Research Committee Two-tier

  • Headed by the Dean, Academics, with twelve leading faculty researchers and five eminent external experts.
  • An Executive Standing Committee handles regular monitoring of all research activity.
  • Meets at least once a year to review progress and recommend corrective measures; term runs three years.
  • Maps faculty competencies, guides funding proposals and designs faculty-development programmes.

Research Advisory Committee Per scholar

  • Chaired by the Vice-Chancellor or nominee; the research supervisor serves as convener.
  • Includes the Dean of School and the Chairman, Board of Studies of the subject.
  • Reviews the proposal, finalizes the topic, and guides study design and methodology.
  • Periodically reviews and assists the scholar’s research progress.

Doctoral Studies

Pursue a Ph.D. at SRK University.

A structured, research-focused doctoral programme across multiple disciplines, designed in line with UGC regulations to cultivate high-quality research, guided mentorship and scholarly publication.

Eligibility

Who can apply

  • Master’s degree with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade.
  • 5% relaxation for SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer), PwD and EWS categories.
  • Four-year bachelor’s route requires a minimum 75% aggregate.
  • M.Phil holders with 55%+ are also eligible.
Duration

Time to complete

  • Minimum three years including coursework; maximum six years.
  • Up to two additional years via re-registration (eight years total).
  • Extra two-year relaxation for women scholars and PwD (40%+).
  • Up to 240 days maternity / child-care leave.
Admission

Selection process

  • Entry via NET / CSIR-NET / GATE / CEED or a University entrance test.
  • Test composition: 50% research methodology, 50% subject-specific.
  • Final weightage — 70% entrance test, 30% interview.
  • Interview board chaired by the Vice-Chancellor or nominee.

Coursework Min. 12 credits

  • Mandatory Research & Publication Ethics course (UGC, 2019).
  • A dedicated research methodology course.
  • RAC may recommend UGC-recognized online courses toward credits.

Training & assistantship

  • Training in teaching, pedagogy and academic writing during the doctoral period.
  • 4–6 hours per week of teaching or research assistantship — tutorials, lab work and evaluation.
  • Supervisors may guide up to two international scholars on a supernumerary basis.
